Sinn Féin Cllr. Stephen Lynch of Mountmellick Town Council
THIS COUNCIL CALLS ON THE GOVERNMENT TO END WATER FLUORIDATION."
1. 98% of the countries in Europe have banned water fluoridation because of health and ethical grounds.
2. A growing amount of evidence links fluoride to cancer, osteoporosis and thyroid damage and dental experts warn against giving this water to infants.
3. We are told by the HSE that adding fluoride to water is the best way of treating and preventing tooth decay yet we have the worst dental health statistics in the EU.
Well done! This is a good first step which might soon see an end to the fluoridisation of Irish water.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Keep up the pressure!
ReplyDeleteComhghairdeas! If I want the benefits of fluoride, I'll ensure my toothpaste contains it as one of its ingredients. Now, please sort out the anti-social behaviour of certain of our adolescents in the town. Saw a "pack" of them pulling up daffodils outside the Community School Monday night (not students of said school I might add). The litter is another issue that needs to be addressed. Both concerns need to be addressed at source: National School students. Get them on board for future success. Young kids are fantastic and get on board with initiatives like this immediately. Added to that a little message in the Parish Newsletter every week
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments which have been noted & passed to Cllr Stephen Lynch for his attention. As you are probably aware Brian Stanley TD
Deletehas a clinic in the Town Hall on the last Friday of every month at 3.15 pm, I am sure he will be pleased to discuss your observations with you.
In regards to the Parish Newsletter I understand that they do not accept comments from political parties therefore I suggest you contact them yourself.
This is exactly why Mountmellick needs a Community Garda !
DeleteThank you Cllr Lynch.
ReplyDeleteIt's about time that our elected representatives listened and acted on our concerns
regarding fluoride and the quality of the water in Mountmellick.
There is still a long way to go and there are many other issues that need addressing
in the town but after reading SF's newsletters and this blog I feel that there are people around
that still care about our community enough to start asking questions and pushing for change.
Well done Sinn Féin!
The World Health Organisation, states that before any government considers implementing a water fluoride policy, you must know what the total dietary intake of fluoride of the population is from all sources. This recommending has been ignored by the Irish government. Whats new?. Fluoridation is essentially a policy of mass medication. The Irish Government needs to stop the practice now for the sake of our peoples health. We in Sinn Fein, Mountmellick, will be relentless in our efforts to force the Government to end this practice. Sinn Fein, Cllr Stephen Lynch proposed a motion at a recent Town Council meeting calling on the government to end its fluoride policy . This motion was passed. It is also my understanding that Sinn Fein Cllr Alan Hand also got a motion passed in relation to the policy at a recent Portlaoise Council Meeting. Laois are leading the way in this campaign. Join with us and help bring this shocking policy to an end. Adam Haughton, Chairman, Mountmellick, Sinn Fein.
ReplyDeleteThe policy of mass medication must be brought to an end for the sake of our peoples health. Sinn Fein , will lead the way in this regard.
ReplyDeleteGood work Cllr Lynch
ReplyDeleteThe concept of community policing is one of the best ways of building up community relations with the local population. In relation to young people a good community guard can be a very successful intervention in crime prevention. It is in my view a common sense approach and it works for a lot of young people who may have been led into a life of crime by their peers. Community policing is a crime preventive and community relations concept and should be seen as such. We in Sinn Fein, not only endorse the concept of a community but are actively involved in a campaign to try and get one for the town of Mountmellick
