LAOIS COUNTY COUNCIL CONSULTS SINN FÉIN

An example of the urgently required Bus Shelters

As part of the Active Travel Towns Scheme a delegation from Sinn Féin's Willie Brock Cumann met with LCC representatives to discuss the provision of new cycle lanes and improved walkways in Mountmellick.

Sinn Féin stressed the need for bus shelters in the town and supplied Laois County Council with photographs of possible sites and explained that the residents' now have greater reliance on public transport.

The delegation also proposed several ideas for Active Travel including a cycle lane from Kirwan Park to the local schools and to the new Supervalue.

Mountmellick Sinn Féin have campaigned for bus shelters in the town since 2010 and were encouraged by LCC's response which was to include them in their strategy, to promote the needs of residents who use public transport and seek funding for the bus shelters in 2013.

  1. sinn fein serving the community. This has been a very successful year for sinn fein in mountmellick. It is interesting that we end this year by laying the ground work for our public transport and bus shelter campaign by sharing our views with LCC.
