"Protest Letter"

To,
 Charles Flanagan TD
Minister for Foreign Affairs
25/07/14

Dear Minister,
We wish to protest in the strongest terms our disgust at the Irish Government’s, weak and shameful diplomatic response to Israel’s cruel and murderous military offensive currently underway in the besieged and blockaded Gaza Strip.

A military offensive, which has resulted to date in the deaths of over 990 Palestinians and 5,200 injured, the majority, are Civilians, many of them Women and Children.
The deliberate targeting of Health Institutions, Schools, and UN
Facilities. The dropping of one ton shells on civilian buildings in the most densely populated area per hectare on Earth.

The denial of Statehood to the Palestinian People, the robbery and expanding of illegal settlement on their land, is one of the greatest crimes perpetrated against a people since the Second World War.
We request:

1.   The situation requires a firm and resolute response by the Irish Government, which must now expel the Israeli Ambassador.

2.   The Irish Government should also push for the immediate suspension of the EU’s preferential trade agreements (Israel-EU Association Agreement and Euro-Med Agreement) with Israel.

Signed:

The rally was addressed by a number of people.
·      Sister Anne Pender: Representing the Presentation International Justice Movement.
·      Michéal Scully: A School Teacher.
·      Yvonne : A young mother, who represented the Muslim Community in Ireland.
·      Brian Furlong: One of the rally organisers.

Protesters then proceeded to the Constituency Office of the Minister For Foreign Affairs  Mr. Charlie Flanagan TD in O’Moore St and handed in a letter of protest signed by over 80 people.

As neither Minister Flanagan or any of his staff were at home. The Letter of Protest was dropped through the Letter Box of the Constituency Office.
